Nearly one-third of all automobile fatalities are due to side-impact crashes, with about two-thirds of these due to head and neck injuries. In response to this urgent automotive safety need, Zodiac Automotive developed the Advanced Head Protection System (AHPS).

Founded on Zodiac’s life-saving ITS system, the AHPS represents an innovative direction in advanced side-impact head and neck protection. This second generation airbag system, offers all the advantages of the ITS, and adds a tensioned fabric shield which envelops the ITS during deployment. The AHPS design enhances the coverage across all side windows and increases the overall protection for vehicle occupants.

The AHPS airbag module is produced and assembled at Zodiac’s manufacturing facility in Ashington, UK and is included on many automobile platforms worldwide, including the MINI and the BMW 5 and 7-series.
